All-In-One Scrub Bars to Cleanse, Exfoliate and Moisturize

I try to live my life on the minimalist side of things and one area this pertains to is beauty. Multi-use products are appealing to me and that is what inspired today’s recipe. These homemade All-in-One Scrub Bars are cleansing, exfoliating, and moisturizing. They are made from just a few natural ingredients, and since I started using them, my skin has been so soft. You can use them on your hands or all over your body. (I do both – one at the bathroom sink and one in the shower.) Here’s how you can make All-in-One Scrub Bars too and simply at least one part of your beauty routine.

All-in-One Scrub Bars

1/2 cup plain vegetable glycerin bar soap

1/4 cup coconut oil

1 cup sugar

12 drops orange essential oil

10 drops lavender essential oil

8 drops geranium essential oil

In a double boiler, melt the vegetable glycerin soap with the coconut oil over med-heat heat.

Pour sugar into a medium sized bowl.

Once the soap and oil mixture has melted, pour over the sugar in the bowl.

Add the essential oils.

Stir everything together until combined.

Scoop and press firmly into molds. (I like bigger bars to use for hands and smaller ice cube sized ones for shower use.)

Allow to cool and set for a few hours.

Gently pop out of molds and store somewhere dry, cool, and dark.

To use, gently rub over wet hands or body (sink or shower) without putting the bar directly into the stream of water.

Rub in with your hands until the sugar dissolves, then rinse.

Between uses, keep it in a dish or soap tray.

The sugar dissolves faster than the soap, so over time, it will become less exfoliating and more like soap.

If you’re using these on your hands, I wouldn’t recommend more than once a day so you don’t over exfoliate.

The soap acts as a cleanser, the coconut oil is a moisturizer, and the sugar is an exfoliant. With these three properties, you will cover all your bases with one natural product in one easy step.

You can use a variety of different essential oils that you have and enjoy the scent of. I choose these three in particular because of their relaxing and rejuvenating effects on the nervous system and mental well-being. In terms of skin care, orange essential oil brightens skin complexion. Both lavender and geranium essential oils are great for treating acne and soothe the skin.
